International Internships – Kean University
Is your organization intern-ready? How can you utilize interns to support your operations?
Paul Casey and Katsumi Kishida from Kean University located in Union, New Jersey will walk you through steps needed to access interns to support your organization. Kean University has a diverse international student population and offers a world class educational experience on campus, and throughout the world. The presentation will include the benefits employers receive from internships and how you can host a virtual intern from Kean University. Additional information about the logistics included in hosting an intern will be shared. A facilitated Q & A will follow the session by WFYC’s COO, Mark Shamley.
Katsumi Kishida has over 15 years of experience in the field of International Education. She is currently working as Managing Assistant Director at Center for International Studies at Kean University. Growing up in both Japan and the United States, she knew early on that she wanted to work with the international community as a career. She has been passionately helping international students since her undergraduate days at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan where she majored in International Relations. Katsumi was also an F-1 student herself while doing her Master’s Degree in International Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, so she understands the challenges and the joys international students face when studying abroad. She is an active member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators and currently serving as NAFSA Trainer Corps member. In the past, she has also served in the NAFSA leadership team as New Jersey State Representative for her region.
Paul Casey has more than 20 years of experience in non-profit and higher education leadership. Paul spent more than 13 years with Boys & Girls Clubs, including 5 years as CEO for the Boys & Girls Club of Garfield. He is currently the Assistant Director of Internships for the Kean University, Office of Career Services. In this role, Paul works closely with Kean University students and employers to help support student success while meeting the recruiting needs of employers.
The virtual session will be moderated by WFYC Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Mark Shamley.
